I wanna bake my cupcakes and eat 'em too!

Gah, in a perfect world we could just eat what we want and it would have no negative effect on our bodies. We would somehow magically harness the filtered figures of IG models AND get to scarf down as many cake pops as our little hearts desired. Oh to dream...

Okay, since that is not a realistic outlook on nutrition (yes, Megan, I know, I know) let me tell you how I am currently searching for a version of acceptance in my body and health. First, you need to know Megan. Megan Magee is my nutritionist and although she is not technically a therapist, I sure use her like that sometimes! I have been working with Megan for over 5 years now and holy moly has she helped me in more ways than I can count. It all started with me being in a bloated, cranky, self-destructive space and finally fed up with how I felt and looked. I had some not-so-healthy food habits, to say the least and I had food intolerances unbeknownst to me. She helped me understand my relationship with food and most importantly with myself. I could go on and on about how she has helped me but no one is going to read that novel, so I will keep it short and to the point. Balance. We are all familiar with the word and it, like the unicorn, feels like a mystical idea at times. But there is such a thing as finding true balance when it comes to nutrition and getting to eat the things you love while maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Tip for you - Hire someone like Megan Magee to help you understand your own personal relationship (and goals) with nutrition and food. ***Here's the link to her website just in case https://nourishnutritiononline.com/

Next up, is fitness. Talk about a love-hate relationship. I have struggled with exercise and finding my thing for yeeeeeeeears. Basically outside of cheerleading in High School and yoga in the park during the summer, I have not vibed with a particular activity or workout. But, I keep trying and right now that is me in the gym at our local rec center to get some cardio and weight training in. It's actually going well, thanks for asking :)

Tip for you - Don't put pressure on yourself to be something, or in to something, you aren't. Meaning, if you are not a powerhouse crossfit-junkie (props to you if you are), don't shame yourself for not being one. If rolling out your yoga mat with your golden retriever or cat in tow is more your jam, you do you!

So now I want to fold in my hobby and love for baking. I want to make all the cupcakes, cookies, cakes, breads, tarts etc., that I possibly can. The other thing I want to do is EAT THEM ALL. So what's a girl to do? Well, I am still working with Megan so she helps me keep my mindset and actions in check. I am going to the gym regularly. And I am using a framework called Oola to help me keep my goals in sight at all times as well as track my daily activities.

(I had a recipe written down for these white chocolate and raspberry cupcakes but... I lost it. So I will just have to recreate them and let you know what the recipe is at that time. Ha. Life.)

Tip for you - If you have goals around your fitness, health, nutrition, hobbies, career etc. and you need a framework to help you stay focused, stay prioritized and reach the next-level of life that you want, check out Oola.

To wrap this all up, it's about being a work in progress. Keyword there is progress, not perfection. Doing the little things each day that ultimately get you to your big goals is what it is about. It also allows room for truly living your life, baking that damn cake and happily eating it, too :). So here's to baking your cake and eating it too, whatever that may mean in your world.
