Why is it that Grandma's everywhere have the best recipes? Maybe it's because their recipes are made with real ingredients, real food, and oh yeah, real butter... mmm... My Mom and I recently made some of Grandma's cookie recipes for Christmas. My Mom is my best friend and I cherish every memory we make together. This year we were both feeling reminiscent of Grandma, who passed away in 2018. We were both feeling comforted by making things that she would have loved and bringing back the cookies that she made many, many years ago.
Now, this isn't one of those cookie recipes but it is one that I cherish. These cookies hold a special place in my heart for a few reasons. First, every time my Grandma or my Mom made these cookies they tasted the exact same. There is something so distinctive about their gooeyness that just brings me instant joy. The other thing is that I have a hand-written recipe that I took down when I lived on my own for the first time with a friend in college. I remember calling my Grandma up to get the recipe and doodling on the page while she told me a story about her day while she looked for the recipe. I think I was attempting Cookie Monster? I've always been a terrible drawer...

Today it was a cold and wintery feeling so I decided to bust out this recipe and even have my son join in on the process. I hope you enjoy it!
Makes 15 large cookies
Ingredients:
3 eggs beaten 1 cup raisins 1 tsp vanilla
1 cup unsalted butter (softened) 1 cup sugar 1 cup brown sugar 2 1/2 cups flour 1 tsp salt 1 tsp cinnamon 2 tsp baking soda 2 cups oatmeal
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
Combine the eggs, raisins, and vanilla in a bowl. Mix together and cover with plastic wrap. Chill in the fridge for 1 hour.
In a mixing bowl or using your stand mixer, combine the butter, sugar, and brown sugar until creamed together.
In a separate bowl, sift the flour, salt, cinnamon, and baking soda together.
Slowly add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture. Add the egg mixture.
Add the oatmeal and mix on low until combined. Don't over mix!
Line a baking sheet with a silicone mat and spoon a handful of dough for each cookie. I enjoy big cookies :).
Bake at 350 degrees for about 15 minutes, depends on the size of cookies. Check at 15 minutes.
Enjoy!
